size, thanks to the specially designed box
this effect. This is an edition in the form
of an object book or an artist's book (proposed in a box resembling two volumes, which contains the sheets, the “loose” plates and an “alchemical wheel”, filled with mercury): an exemplary work for the diversity of techniques, for the skills of the author and for the exceptional intuitions of artistic experimentation. The mature Dalí meditates on the principle of alchemy, based on the idea of natural metamorphosis, that is, the belief that all metals would eventually
turn into gold after millions
of years. What nature cannot improve
that after a long period of time, being
human being can achieve it through his art, and in
very little time. This is the incredible myth
by Dalí.
This work no longer contains the 10 engravings originally contained in the box.
